You can probably blame snowstorms and early seasonal road closures, as October 2019 Yellowstone visits were down when compared to 2018, according to National Park Service officials.

It took just three days for Yellowstone National Park nonprofit partner Yellowstone Forever to raise $1 million for the planned 2020 North Entrance reconstruction, leading to a $1 million match from the National Park Foundation.

The final services have ended and the 2019 summer season is in the books, as most of Yellowstone National Park closes for the season, as the transition to the winter season begins.

Here’s some information to keep in mind as you plan next year’s travels: the outlines of the 2020 Yellowstone road construction schedule has been announced by the National Park Service.

The National Park Service is seeking comments on three proposals for a Yellowstone River Bridge replacement in Yellowstone National Park, located on the Northeast Entrance Road near Tower Junction.

A winter bison hunt outside the Yellowstone National Park boundaries in a confined area, Beattie Gulch, is unnecessarily risky and puts residents in that area in danger, according to a new lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

September 2019 Yellowstone visitation was down when compared to September 2018 numbers, with  693,118 visits in representing a 4.3 percent decrease from the year before.

Another weather-related closure to note: predicted bad weather is causing the National Park Service to close the Dunraven Pass — the stretch of Grand Loop Road between Tower Fall and Canyon Junction — for the season.

With winter storms hitting the Rockies and the western United States, we have our first early closing in the Yellowstone National Park region: the Beartooth Highway between the Hwy. 212/296 intersection and Red Lodge is now closed for the season.

Something to note as you travel the Park this fall: a scheduled Norris Geyser Basin closure on Monday and Tuesday is planned to accommodate road improvement work at Norris Junction.
