July saw the highest Yellowstone visitation count on record in all of Yellowstone National Park’s history.

When we think of the Fourth of July, we think of barbecue and fireworks outside or, short of that, watching them on television.

Yellowstone visitation is up thus far in 2014.

It was another record-breaking year in Yellowstone National Park, as the National Park Service is reporting that for the third year in a row a summer mark for visitors was achieved.

The numbers are in: the number of people who visited Yellowstone National Park in the month of July came close to equaling the number of people who came during the first six months of the year combined.

A record number of visitors descended on Yellowstone National Park in June, pushing the annual total to over 1 million. The National Park Services says 643,844 people were in Yellowstone in June, the highest tally ever recorded, and an 8.5 percent increase over 2007.

For those worried about a slow season ahead in Yellowstone National Park, the May numbers should alleviate some concerns, as the National Park Service announces visitor numbers for May 2009 were up sharply over a year ago.
