The Yellowstone Grand Loop Road between Canyon Village and Fishing Bridge has been reopened, but fires have forced a partial closure of the Beartooth Highway outside the Park.

The scheduled Dunraven Pass and Beartooth Highway openings hit snags this morning, with bad weather indefinitely delaying the opening of the Beartooth Highway.

Better late than never: After two weeks of delays caused by heavy, late spring snow conditions, the Beartooth Highway opened to vehicle traffic this morning, allowing unfettered travel between Red Lodge and Cooke City.

All roads in Yellowstone National Park are now open, as crews cleared out the Dunraven Pass and opened the Tower Junction/Canyon Village section of road at 8 a.m. today.

Improving road conditions in the Sylvan Pass and the decreased chance of snow slides are causing Yellowstone National Park officials to open the East Entrance for travel 24 hours a day.

It was a rough Memorial Day weekend in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, as road closures both within and outside the Park appeared to dampen the number of visitors to the area. And things won't get better until the weekend at the earliest.
