If you’re planning a fall or winter trip to Yellowstone National Park, here’s something to consider: Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel renovations are set to continue on Sept. 4, right after the busy Labor Day weekend.
This round of Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel renovations will focus on updates to the actual hotel rooms. Construction will involve accessibility improvements, updates to fire protection systems, seismic stabilization, and adding private bathrooms to each guest room.
The last day guests will be able to stay in the hotel rooms is September 2, checking out Sept. 3. All other lodging and services remain open until October 14, 2018. Hotel rooms, cabins, and the main dining room will be closed during winter 2018/2019.
However, Mammoth Hot Springs will not be shutting down totally during the winter season, and for those of you making day trips to Mammoth during wintertime, you’ll be able to stop for coffee and lunch. The Map Room bar/barista stand will be open 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while a lunch buffet will be served in the second-floor conference room from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hotel’s gift shop/ski shop will remain office, and there will be snowcoach service to Old Faithful Snow Lodge.
Right now the plan is for Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel to remain closed for much of Summer 2019, but other parts of the historic structure will open on schedule. The front desk, cabins, main dining room, hotel gift shop, and map room/bar will be open April 26 to November 3, while the Terrace Grill is set to be open April 26 through Oct. 13.
The closure is part of the long-term renovation of Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.
