Dunraven Pass Reopens After Snow October 7, 2016

The Dunraven Pass has reopened after being closed by snow.

Earlier today, snow closed both the Dunraven and Beartooth Passes, hampering travel on the Park’s east side. Inclement weather also delayed the reopening of the Mammoth–Norris road, which was supposed to happen at 7 a.m. this morning.

According to Yellowstone officials, they hope the Mammoth–Norris road will reopen by 5 p.m. this afternoon.

As of 12:35 p.m. MST, the Beartooth Pass is still closed.

Both the Dunraven and Beartooth Passes are slated to close for the season October 11. It is possible traffic officials may decide to close the Beartooth early, especially if snowy, windy conditions persist.

UPDATE: The Mammoth–Norris road is officially open, while the Beartooth Pass has been reopened on the Montana side. Read the full story here.
