As autumn approaches, facilities in Yellowstone National Park have started to shutter for the 2016 summer season.
As of 9:15 a.m. MST, the following facilities have closed and the following services have been discontinued for the 2016 summer season:
Bridge Bay
• Bridge Bay Campground.
• Marina Store.
• Guide Boats/Outboards.
Canyon Village
• Repair Service.
• Trail Rides.
Fishing Bridge
• Wrecker/Repair Service.
Grant Village
• Wrecker/Repair Service.
Old Faithful
• Repair Service.
Tower/Roosevelt
• Tower Fall General Store.
• Roosevelt Lodge/Cabins.
• Horse Rides/Stagecoach.
• Roosevelt Store.
In addition, Slough Creek Campground is closed due to fire activity. This year, it was slated to close October 7. However, it seems unlikely Buffalo Fire will quiet down enough to warrant reopening the campground this late in the season, barring any sustained precipitation or snow.
The Tower Junction Service Station is also closed, but you can still fill up on gas so long as you use a credit card. In Tower/Roosevelt, the Cook-Out will be held until September 10.
Just a reminder: The road between Mammoth and Norris Geyser Basin is slated to close September 11 so crews can complete a construction project.
