We have another road closure in Yellowstone National Park today, as the highway between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris is closed until the end of the month.
Travelers will be detoured to the Tower/Canyon area as they make their way between Mammoth and West Yellowstone. That will add approximately 90 minutes to the trip, meaning you should plan on a drive between Mammoth and West Yellowstone taking two and a half hours. The road isn’t totally closed to Mammoth and Norris: Visitors will still be able to access the road to Sheepeater Cliff from the north and Norris Campground from the south during this two-week road closure.
This stretch of road is expected to reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30. Check out our Road Conditions page for more information.
It’s the season of road closures in Yellowstone. The road between Old Faithful and West Thumb/Grant Village is closed for the season, as crews replace the Isa Lake bridge.
