Dunraven Pass Opening A Week Earlier Than Expected For 2016 Summer Season

The Dunraven Pass, along with several visitor facilities, is slated to open May 20.

By our previous estimate based on the traditional opening date, Dunraven Pass was scheduled to open May 27, or Memorial Day Weekend. However, Yellowstone officials announced the Pass will be able to open a week early.

Last week, May 13, the Lake Hotel opened for the season after a reception honoring the building’s 125th anniversary.

Now, with snow paved and summer approaching, visitors will be able to travel the Canyon-Tower-Roosevelt road through the Dunraven Pass. With the opening of the Dunraven Pass, all interior Park roads will be open to visitor traffic for the summer.

The Beartooth Highway is still slated to open May 27.

Along with the Dunraven Pass, several campgrounds, lodges, and other facilities will be opening for the season as well. The full list is below:
