Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel Closes for 2018 Winter Season

The Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins in Yellowstone National Park has closed for the 2018 winter season.

In addition, the Dining Room, Gift Shop, and Ski Shop have closed.

Yesterday, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge & Cabins closed for the season. The road between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris Geyser Basin closed to oversnow travel at 9 p.m. last night.

We’re approaching the end of Yellowstone’s winter season, which is officially set for March 15. Between now and then, facilities and roads will continue to close so crews can conduct spring plowing and facilities can start preparing April and May reopenings. You can see the list of pending road closures below. All routes listed will close at 9 p.m. the day of:

March 6: Norris to Madison, Norris to Canyon Village.

March 11: Canyon Village to Fishing Bridge, Fishing Bridge to Lake Butte Overlook.

March 15: All remaining interior roads.

The road between Mammoth Hot Springs and the Northeast Entrance/Cooke City remains open all year. The Mammoth Campground, General Store, Post Office, Clinic Albright Visitor Center, and self-service fuel pumps also stay open.

Following spring plowing, Yellowstone’s roads will start reopening Friday, April 20, 2018, weather permitting.

The Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins will reopen Friday, April 27, 2018, along with the Terrace Grill and Gift Shop.
