Sylvan Pass, Norris-Canyon Road Closed by Snow

The road between Canyon Village and Norris as well as the Sylvan Pass/East Entrance road have been temporarily closed by snow.

According to a Yellowstone press release, inclement weather, “creating “icy and unsafe conditions,” closed each road to wheeled vehicles.

The roads are expected to reopen when conditions improve and snow/ice is cleared.

Yellowstone is in the midst of closing roads in preparation for winter. Earlier this week, we reported the Dunraven Pass connecting Tower-Roosevelt and Canyon had closed to wheeled vehicles. Prior to this scheduled closure, Dunraven and several other passes had been closed by snow.

All interior park roads save for the one connecting the North and Northeast Entrances are slated to close to wheeled vehicles November 6.

You can see the full list of opening and closing dates here.
