With the opening of the Dunraven Pass today, all interior roads in Yellowstone National Park are available for travel.
In addition, the Beartooth Highway is open to travel on both the Montana and Wyoming side. A word of caution, however: sudden snowstorms have been known to close the Beartooth—something to keep an eye out for even during the summer.

A caveat now: travel in Yellowstone may be a little congested this year. In the first place, visitation is expected to be high. Then there’s the matter of road construction. We previously reported construction is ongoing on the road between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris Geyser Basin, with nightly closures starting June 4. In addition, travel has been reduced to one lane on parts of the Canyon-Fishing Bridge route following a water line break earlier this month.
As always, keep to the speed limit and give wildlife as much space as possible, especially bison, who won’t hesitate to head-butt your car if they feel threatened.
