Mark your calendars! A very special reception is planned Friday, May 13, 2016 in honor of Yellowstone Lake Hotel.
Specifically, Hotel employees and other personnel will be honoring both the Hotel’s 125th anniversary and its designation as a National Historic Landmark in 2015.
Below is the full itinerary, courtesy of Yellowstone National Park Lodges:
• Pre-event: A procession of historic vehicles from Lake Lodge to the Lake Hotel (9:15 a.m.)
• A special ceremony including remarks and a plaque unveiling for the hotel’s recent designation as a National Historic Landmark (10 a.m.)
• Walking tours of the hotel and short driving tours of the area by historic Yellow bus at no cost and available on a first-come, first served basis (immediately following the ceremony)
The event will formally end at 1 p.m.
Please note, however, that while most of roads to Yellowstone Lake (including the East Entrance and the Canyon-Lake road) opened May 6, Yellowstone Lake Hotel itself will not be open to visitors. Neither will nearby Lake Lodge or the Lake General Store. Visitors looking to attend the reception and eat in the Park are encouraged to go to either the Fishing Bridge or Canyon General Stores, or to the restaurants in Mammoth and Old Faithful currently open.
The Yellowstone Lake Hotel and Cabins is set to open to lodging guests May 14.
