Yellowstone National Park Roads Closing November 2

Roads in Yellowstone National Park are slated to close 8 a.m. Monday, November 2 as the Park transitions to the winter season.

With the exception of the road running from the North Entrance (Gardiner, Montana) to the Northeast Entrance (Cooke City, MT) all other Yellowstone roads will be closed to vehicle traffic. The Dunraven Pass closed a few weeks back, along with the Beartooth Highway, which connects Cooke City to Red Lodge and Billings, MT.

With roads closed, Yellowstone officials will start prepping for winter, as cars give way to snowmobiles and snowcoaches. The Park will reopen to snow vehicle traffic Tuesday, December 15.

In the meantime, most of Mammoth Hot Springs will remain open: the Yellowstone General Store, Post Office, clinic, campground, and Albright Visitor Center. Indeed, they remain open year round. You can keep abreast of Yellowstone road conditions here.
