Quantcast is a third-party service that directly tracks users and their behaviors on specific Websites based on tracking code placed on the site. There are a number of services that track usage, but only Quantcast and Google Analytics do direct measurements based on site usage: other services, like Compete and Alexa, do so based on much smaller samples of data indirectly compiled. While no service is perfect, Quantcast is the most transparent about it collects data and has the best reputation in the Internet publishing community, we feel. (Of course, Web publishers like the service that places their sites in the best light, so take all of this with a grain of salt.)
So keep all that in mind when we brag that Yellowstone Insider is now the top third-party Yellowstone site, outpacing the likes of YellowstoneNationalPark.com and YellowstonePark.com. We’re the only Yellowstone site out there to cooperate with a service like Quantcast (our data is also traced by Google Analytics; Google doesn’t publish this data, alas, but we’re wiling to share it with you). Plus, our reach is a little longer than even Quantcast measures, with 430 Twitter followers and 400 newsletter subscribers.
