
With some clear disagreements emerging over the management of Yellowstone National Park bison during winter months when they head out of the Park, citizen input is being sought on the issue. The first meeting of Yellowstone Bison “Citizens Working Group” is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7:15 p.m. in the large community room at the Bozeman Public Library. The meeting will be facilitated by Virginia Tribe, and it is open to all interested citizens.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will announce tomorrow that the whitebark pine, which plays such a key role in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, may be eligible for protection under the Endangered Species Act -- a designation that could start the process of protecting the pine from further harm.
A lawsuit brought by the Montana Stockgrowers Association to drastically restrict the movement of bison outside Yellowstone National Park has been dismissed, as a judge ruled the Stockgrowers do not have any rights under a multijurisdictional management plan.
