We were warned Yellowstone automated shuttles were on the way in 2021, and they’ll be here in May, when testing of two new systems begins at Canyon Village.

Yellowstone roads open this Friday, when western portions of the Grand Loop road will allow motorized traffic at 8 a.m. on April 16.

With the opening of the 49-mile stretch of road between West Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs open today to bicyclists, we can now proclaim a start to the 2021 Yellowstone summer season–just in time for a weekend heat wave.

Expanded Yellowstone campground reservations are on tap for three more areas–Mammoth, Slough Creek and a portion of Pebble Creek–beginning at the end of the month.

We will see two new Yellowstone shuttles serving the busiest parts of the park in 2021, as National Park Service officials announce two pilot projects for future evaluation.
