The Yellowstone East Entrance is still scheduled to open Friday, May 2 at 8 a.m., but National Park Service officials are warning about the potential of heavy, wet snow slides that could halt traffic.

The six fires comprising the Druid Fire Complex continue to smoulder in Yellowstone National Park, with activity expected to diminish despite warmer weather and the chance of thunderstorms over the weekend.

The Yellowstone Grand Loop Road between Canyon Village and Fishing Bridge has been reopened, but fires have forced a partial closure of the Beartooth Highway outside the Park.

With the Alum Fire growing, the National Park Service has closed 13 miles of the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park between Fishing Bridge Junction to the South Rim Drive of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
