Taking another break from a long slumber: we saw a Giantess Geyser eruption for the first time since January 2014, a spectacular site broadcast worldwide via Yellowstone webcam.

After several eruptions in June, Steamboat Geyser activity took a break for 21 days before erupting again in early July. In addition, there’s been more activity in dormant areas. Is there anything unusual happening in Yellowstone National Park?

By calculating how much water and heat are flowing out of Yellowstone hot springs, researchers from Washington State University and the University of Idaho say the Yellowstone caldera is hotter and larger than previously estimated.

So far the 2018 summer season has been a great time if you’re a Yellowstone geyser fanatic: Steamboat Geyser has been providing thrills in a more active stage, but there is plenty of other thermal activity to note this year.

With another event this morning, a Yellowstone Steamboat Geyser eruption is now on the bucket list of many Park visitors. If you can’t make it on your own, here’s a video for you.
