Spring Plowing Season Starts in Yellowstone National Park

Following the closure of the Sylvan Pass, roads in Yellowstone National Park will start closing Sunday, March 4, 2018 to for more spring plowing.

Sunday at 9 p.m., the road between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris will close to oversnow travel.

Monday, March 5, 2018, the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins, Mammoth Dining Room, Gift Shop, and Ski Shop will close as well for the season.

The Mammoth Campground, Yellowstone General Store, Post Office, Medical Clinic, Albright Visitor Center, and self-service fuel pumps remain open all year. In addition, the self-serve fuel pumps at Tower Junction remain open all year, along with the road between Mammoth, Tower, and the Northeast Entrance/Cooke City, Montana.

All roads will close to oversnow travel by March 15. The schedule is below. All roads listed will close at 9 p.m. MST:

March 6: Norris to Madison, Norris to Canyon Village.

March 11: Canyon Village to Fishing Bridge, Fishing Bridge to Lake Butte Overlook.

March 15: All remaining interior roads save for the North-Northeast Entrance road.

Weather permitting, the roads in Yellowstone National Park will start reopening Friday, April 20, 2018.
