Yellowstone Winter Season to Close Thursday, March 15, 2018

Yellowstone National Park’s winter season is coming to a close, with the closing of several facilities and roads this week.

The Sylvan Pass on Yellowstone National Park’s East Entrance road will close to oversnow travel at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018.

In addition, today, February 28, the following warming huts will close: Fishing Bridge, Indian Creek, Mammoth Hot Springs, and West Thumb.

Yellowstone is slated to officially close for the 2018 winter season Thursday, March 15. You can see the list of slated road and facility closures below:

March 4: Mammoth to Norris road, Old Faithful Snow Lodge & Cabins.

March 5: Mammoth Hotel & Cabins, Mammoth Dining Room, Retail, Mammoth Ski Shop.

March 6: Norris to Madison road, Norris to Canyon road.

March 8: Canyon Warming Hut.

March 11: Canyon to Fishing Bridge.

March 15: Old Faithful Bear Den Gift Shop, Old Faithful Geyser Grill, West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center NPS Desk, Old Faithful Yurts, all remaining roads.

Every March until the end of April, Yellowstone’s roads are closed in preparation of spring plowing, This is a popular time for cyclists, who can ride in the park for part of the spring plowing season before motorized vehicles are allowed back on the road.
