Sealing operations on the South Entrance road have been delayed until later in August, according to a Yellowstone press release.
This weekend, we reported construction on the route between the South Entrance and West Thumb Junction would be subject to several construction projects, including paving and sealing of the road.
Crews are currently patching up the road and clearing it for sealing. That work will continue through August 12, 2017, according to the press release.
Sealing was originally scheduled to start the week of August 7, 2017. According to the release, it has been delayed until at least August 22, 2017.
In all likelihood, the move is meant to make it easier for visitors to head down to Grand Teton National Park to witness the solar eclipse passing over the area August 21, 2017.
