Yellowstone National Park South Entrance, Yellowstone visitation

Road Between Norris and Canyon Closed By Snow

Ice and snow have closed the road between Norris Junction and Canyon Village in Yellowstone National Park.

A snowstorm swept through the Park early this morning, depositing snow across much of Yellowstone.

This closure follows the closure of Dunraven Pass for the season.

It is not known when the Norris–Canyon road will reopen. Currently, it is scheduled to close to all wheeled traffic November 7. We expect the road will reopen later today or tomorrow.

We will update our story once the road reopens.

UPDATE: As of 10:45 a.m. MST, the East Entrance Road and the South Entrance Road are closed at this time due to snow. The Canyon–Norris road is still closed at this time.

SECOND UPDATE: As of 1:25 p.m. MST, the road between Old Faithful and West Thumb Junction has also been closed to vehicle traffic.

THIRD UPDATE: All these routes are still closed. Read our updated story here.
