Grand Canyon, Midway Geyser Basin Parking Lots to Close in Yellowstone National Park for Paving

Several parking lots in Yellowstone National Park will be closed this week for paving.

The pavings come after Yellowstone received $3.2 million from the National Park Service.

Around half of the 5.2 million square feet of parking lot within Yellowstone National Park will be improved under this program. Lots will be leveled, resurfaced, and restriped for the benefit of motorists.

This week, the following areas will be subject to 24-hour closure, beginning at 7 a.m. the day of. All dates are subject to change depending on prevailing weather conditions:

  • Wednesday, July 15: Artist Point parking lot.
  • Thursday, July 16: Inspiration Point parking lot.
  • Friday, July 17: Midway Geyser Basin parking lot.

Parking lots already completed under this initiative include Uncle Tom’s parking lot, the Wapiti Lake parking lot, and lots in the Old Faithful area.
