Opening of Norris Campground Delayed; Snow/Water Still Factor in Yellowstone

The new opening: May 27. You can see a full list of 2011 opening and closing dates here.

In addition, the opening of the Slough Creek and Pebble Creek campgrounds could be pushed back because of wet conditions. Currently the Slough Creek campground is set to open May 27, and the Pebble Creek campground is set to open June 10. Those dates could be pushed back, according to the Park website. These campgrounds are managed by the National Park Service on a first-come, first-served basis; it’s best to check at a Ranger Station for availability for heading to any campground.

In other Park news, the Lake area opened for business today, with the Lake Hotel and the Lake General Store opening their doors for customers.
