Canyon Lodge’s Pioneer Cabins Upgraded for 2011

The move came after input from Park visitors, who perhaps were not thrilled with the rustic nature of the Pioneer Cabins. From Xanterra PR Rep Mona Mesereau:

All of the Pioneer Cabins at Canyon Lodge have been renovated and upgraded to “Frontier” status. Pioneer Cabins have been converted to Frontiers in response to needed renovations, visitor comments and expectations, and what NPS staff see at properties when doing comparability studies.

If you were lucky — like we were — Xanterra applied the Pioneer rate to the upgraded cabins, a savings of more than $16 a night. Alas, the reservation system doesn’t list Pioneer cabins any longer.
