The final tally for May 2010 Yellowstone National Park visitation was 250,445; that was down 4.3 percent from May 2009 (261,763). Here are the numbers for the year so far:
2010 | 2009 | +/- |
|
January | 25,595 | 24,770 | +3.3% |
February | 29,108 | 28,355 | +2.7% |
March | 21,028 | 17,317 | +21.4% |
April | 32,763 | 24,831 | +31.9% |
May | 250,445 | 261,763 | -4.3% |
TOTAL |
358,939 |
357,036 |
+0.5% |
We can see how weather-dependent the visitation numbers are: a mild April and March meant easier access to the North Entrance, the most popular entrance in winter because it’s accessible via car. A snowy May hindered this access to a degree, as well as access to other parts of the Park that opened in the month.
