The opening of the Dunraven Pass, which connects Tower/Roosevelt and Canyon, is slated for 8 a.m. Rising to almost 8,900 feet, it is the highest elevation road inside the park, and the section where snow lingers the longest. On clear days, views from Dunraven Pass and Mount Washburn are expansive.
With the opening of Dunraven Pass on May 21, all park entrances and interior roads will be open for the season. However, spring visitors to Yellowstone should be prepared for a wide range of winter and spring weather conditions, including temporary road closures when necessary. Snow tires may be required at times on certain road segment. We track road conditions here.
