Rainbow Fire Grows Slightly, Covering Half Acre

The half-acre burn area is located uphill from Rainbow Lake and below the Sepulcher Mountain Trail, which was closed Monday by Park officials as a precautionary measure. Caused by lightning, the Rainbow Fire isn’t expected to grow too much more in coming days.

We received a few reports yesterday from folks who could see the fire from Gardiner and Mammoth Hot Springs, but the sightings were confined to smoke rising from the site. A Park press release says flames can occasionally be seen.
