Beartooth Pass

Beartooth Pass Closed By Snow September 24, 2016

The Beartooth Pass has once more been closed by snow.

Indeed, this is the fourth time snow has closed the Pass since it opened for the 2016 season.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, as of 9:20 a.m. MST, the Pass is closed at the stateline due to ice and snow on the Wyoming side. Visitors from Red Lodge can make it as far as the stateline before turning around.

Snow squalls are expected on the Wyoming side throughout the day. It is not known when the Pass will reopen. We will update our story accordingly.

UPDATE: The Pass has been reopened.
