Road Connecting Canyon and Fishing Bridge Closes for Season

The road between Canyon Village and Fishing Bridge has closed as part of spring plowing season in Yellowstone National Park.

Visitors will no longer be able to travel through the Hayden Valley until early May.

Roads started closing in Yellowstone March 1, along with winter facilities like the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins.

All remaining oversnow roads will close at 9 p.m. March 15, 2018. The same day, the following facilities will close at Old Faithful:

• Visitor Center.
• Snow Lodge Geyser Grill.
• Snow Lodge Bear Den Gift Shop.
• Warming Yurts

Every year, roads close so crews can plow snow in anticipation of spring thaw and the summer season in Yellowstone National Park. Roads and facilities will remain closed through March and most of April.

Spring plowing season is a popular time for cyclists in the park, who (excepting the plows) get to have the roads to themselves for a few weeks.

Roads will start reopening to vehicle travel Friday, April 20, 2018. You can see the full list of road opening dates here.

The same day, the Canyon General Store will reopen, with other facilities (like the Old Faithful and Canyon Visitor Centers) slated to open that weekend. You can see the full list of opening and closing dates here.
