Yellowstone National Park South Entrance, Yellowstone visitation

Most of Yellowstone’s Roads Still Closed By Snow

Most of Yellowstone’s roads are still closed by snow and inclement weather.

Yesterday, we reported the closure of the road between Norris and Canyon due to snow. Later in the day, the following roads were closed by inclement weather:

• East Entrance Road
• South Entrance Road
• Craig Pass between Old Faithful and West Thumb Junction.

As of 7:50 a.m. MST, all of these routes are still closed. It is not known when those roads will reopen.

Currently, every Yellowstone road save for the one between the North and Northeast Entrances is slated to close to vehicle traffic November 7. They will reopen to oversnow travel beginning in mid-December.

UPDATE: As of 12:10 p.m. MST, none of the above routes have reopened to vehicle traffic.

SECOND UPDATE: All the aforementioned routes have reopened to vehicle traffic. Read the story here.
