Tragic news out of Yellowstone National Park today: a young girl has died from a fall into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

The girl and her family were visiting the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone on Sunday, walking on a trail to the Brink of the Lower Falls, just down from the North Rim Drive. The girl reportedly stepped off the trail and subsequently lost footing before falling, according to National Park Service officials.

Park personnel have retrieved her body from the Canyon.

As of right now, the girl’s name, age and hometown are being withheld while other family members are notified. The incident itself is still under investigation.
