Yellowstone Winter Season Winding Down

The road closures do not affect the road between the North Entrance and Cooke City, Mont. This road is maintained year-round and open to car travel.

The other closures apply to oversnow travel via snowcoach and snowmobile. The Park roads will be closed in stages: On March 6, the road from Mammoth to Norris closes at 9 p.m. On March 8 the roads between Norris Junction to Madison Junction and Norris Junction to Canyon close at 9 p.m. On March 13 the road between Canyon and Fishing Bridge closes at 9 p.m. On March 15 all other groomed roads in the park are closed.

The roads will remain closed until April 15, when basic services open in Canyon and Old Faithful.
