Yellowstone Grizzly

Griz Victim Remembered as Avid Outdoorsman

Kammer, a stay-at-home dad in Grand Rapids, Mich., was an avid outdoorsman and kayaker. A stay-at-home dad, Kammer was killed early Wednesday morning by a grizzly, who tore into his tent and dragged his body 25 feet. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

“He could’ve just as easily been hurt in Grand Rapids riding down the road, there could’ve been a car accident or something,” said Jim Howard, brother-in-law. “I think it’s important for people to live their lives and to do what they want to do and what they dream about doing. I mean, yeah, in retrospect I wish he hadn’t gone, but I was glad he was pursuing his dream and pursuing what he loved to do.”

This was the second grizzly attack at the Soda Butte Campground in three summers.
